Book on conflict between traditional religion and Christianity launched

Kumasi, Dec. 8, GNA – A 374-page book titled “Stranded on both Banks”, which seeks to diagnose the conflict between Christianity and African Traditional Religion, has been launched in Kumasi. Monsignor Raphael Owusu Peprah, Rector of the Saint Peter’s Cathedral Basilica authored the book, which proceeds would go to support the education of brilliant but needy students. University College, Ejisu, described the book as “very informative and educative” and recommended it to pastors and educators to help them to better understand what has been lacking in modern day life. “We all need to read it to enrich our minds and our thinking,” he added= .. Emeritus Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, the Most Rev. Pete= r Akwasi Sarpong, praised the author for the extensive research that went i= nto the book and urged Ghanaians to develop the habit of reading to broaden their outlook.

He said it was important for them to have sober reflection of life to understand where they would be going after death. Mr J .K Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, who reviewed th= e book, said the work was “a masterpiece” and must be read by all irrespect= ive of religious background to promote tolerance and respect for beliefs they= do not necessarily share.

Monsignor Owusu-Peprah said he was touched by the plight of brilliant bu= t poor children in rural areas, hence the decision to support them. 8 Dec. 09
