Bonwire ‘ganja’ base raided

A popular base at Bonwire in the Ashanti Region which has become a den for hoodlums in the town was raided by the police on Friday.

The policemen, who were fully armed, stormed the place located in a thick bush in the outskirt of the town in the afternoon.

Apart from hatching plans to rob innocent people there, the place is also the main centre where narcotic drugs are sold to buyers.

Led by DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, the police ransacked the wooden structures, built at the bush.

Perhaps, someone had informed the suspected criminals about the invasion of the place by the police, as the place was vacant during the police’s visit.

DCOP Kofi Boakye and his men forcibly broke into the locked wooden structures to thoroughly search the place.

The police found bottles of locally brewed alcoholic beverage called ‘Lakka’ which is said to contain Indian hemp and other illegal substances.

Some white wrap sheets, which are believed to be used to inhale cocaine, were also seen scattered at the place.

A photograph of a young man, who is alleged to be the operator of the place, was found by the police.
