Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly fails to confirm MCE

Bolgatanga, June 17, GNA – The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly on Thursday failed to endorse the President’s nominee, Mr Isaac Nsoh Amoah, as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

Out of the 34 members who voted he got 22 in favour and 12 against his nomination. He needed at least 67 per cent of the votes but got 64.7 per cent.

Mr Amoah’s supporters were so sure of victory that when Mr Iddrisu Adam, the Upper East Regional Electoral Officer, started announcing the results by saying, “No votes for” they jumped in jubilation and poured powder all over the place.

However, as it turned out that 12 members did not support him, the House agreed not to go for a second round but to fix a date within 10 days as required by law for another try.
