Bolgatanga CPP elects constituency officers

Bolgatanga, April 5, GNA – The newly elected Bolgatanga Constituency Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mohammed Ibrahim Akumbey, has pledged to initiate moves to ensure a merger between the CPP and the Peoples’ National Convention (PNC). He noted that the inability of the Nkrumahists to win elections in the current democratic dispensation was due to the inability of the CPP and PNC to unite. Mr Akumbey was speaking to the media after the party’s constituency elections at Bolgatanga. He said: 93I have already sent notice to the national leadership of the two parties and I and my colleagues are going to pursue vigorously the agenda for the merger of the two parties to enable us capture power in 2012″. Mr Akumbey called on all Nkrumahists to unite and wrest power from the National Democratic Congress in the 2012 General Election adding that the CPP was not dead but it was facing leadership crisis. Mr Akumbey said only the CPP could solve problems facing the country. Upper East Regional Chairman of the CPP, Ramson Yimbil, appealed to the newly elected executives to consider themselves as servants and work tirelessly for the party. Mr Akumbey defeated Cletus Anafo Nyaaba to emerge chairman while Amoah Ayine emerged constituency Secretary, Akabare Chardong, the treasurer and Sala Ibrahim the Women’s Organizer.
