Bolga Muslim Community ushers in New Year with prayers.

Bolgatanga, Jan 2, GNA- Muslims in Bolgatanga said special prayers on Friday to usher in the New Year.

Leading the congregation in prayers at the Central Mosque the Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Yussif Adam, asked for God’s blessings and prosperity for the nation.

Prayers were said for the President, Ministers of State and other members of government.

The congregation also prayed for unity and reconciliation among Ghanaians and for peaceful elections.

Special prayers were also said for the restoration of lasting peace to Dagbon, Bawku and other conflict-prone parts of Ghana and Africa.

Imam Yussif urged Muslims in the region to shun divisive politics and to refrain from acts that would disturb the peace in their communities particularly during this year’s general elections.
