Bolga Municipality Hold Inter-Circuit Quiz.

Bolgatanga, June 15, GNA. The Ghana Library Board, in conjunction with the Municipal Education Office (MEO) at the weekend organized an inter-circuit quiz competition for Junior Secondary Schools in Bolgatanga.

Participating circuits included Bolgatanga North, South, West, Central, Zuarungu North and Zuarungu Central, Nangodi Circuit and Tongo East Circuit.

In an address to launch the quiz competition, Mr. Joachim Akagre, Assistant Director of Education (PRO (MEO) lamented about pupils lack of interest in reading books, and called on them to let the quiz competition wet their appetites for reading.

He commended the Library Board for financing the Quiz programme and appealed to other benevolent organizations and stakeholders to help GES to organize more quizzes to help raise the standard of education. He noted that the Municipality placed 25th in the 2003 BECE and that it could do better if all stakeholders supported the development of education with funds to organize quizzes and mock examinations for all category of pupils.

Five circuits excelled and would go in for the finals on June 18th 2004. They include Bolgatanga South Circuit, which took the first position with 26 points, the Bolgatanga North Circuit was second with 24 points, while Bolgatanga Central Circuit came third with 23 points. The forth position went to Tongo East Circuit, which got 22 points and the Nangodi Circuit placed fifth with 17 points.
