Bolga Assembly doing well in revenue collection

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Rockson Bukari, has said though the assembly did not achieve its revenue target by 5 percent during the first six months of the year, its general revenue performance for the period has been satisfactory.

Addressing the second ordinary session of the assembly in Bolgatanga Mr Bukari commended assembly members for their efforts in making the achievements possible.

He appealed to members to educate the people on the need to live up to their tax obligations because ”it is through internally generated revenue and the Common Fund that the assembly can achieve its developmental objectives.”

Mr Bukari proposed a 10 to 15 percent commission increase for revenue staff and briefed the house on a number of projects being undertaken by the assembly and urged the technical team to monitor and supervise the contractors for delivery of quality work.

The projects include the construction of school buildings, latrines, bathhouses and urinals at lorry parks at Bolgatanga, market stalls as well as the rehabilitation of some old schools and law courts as well as area councils.
