Alhaji Seidu Sampson Abudu, Bole District Chief Executive has presented relief items to some disaster victims in Jama, a farming community in the Bole District.
Alhaji Abudu has also instructed the District Assembly’s works engineer to carry out an assessment of the buildings destroyed by a rainstorm which occurred a month ago and report to the Assembly.
The relief items include 30 packets of roofing sheets, 20 mini bags each of rice and beans, 40 pieces of blankets, six bales of used clothing and 30 poly mats.
Others were 20 plastic basins, 100 each of plastic plates and cups as well as five bars each of tempo soap, bathing soap and key soap.
Presenting the items on Wednesday at Jama, the DCE expressed his sympathy to the disaster victims and expressed hope that the presentation of the items would help alleviate their suffering.
He said the government was committed to responding quickly to disaster situations but advised the people to endeavor to adopt modern technology when putting up their buildings to curb such disasters.
The DCE also used the opportunity to remind all those who have not yet registered in the new biometric voter registration exercise to try and do so before the end of the exercise.
He also advised against violence at registration centers and multiple registration, as well as registration of minors to enable the Electoral Commission (EC) come out with a credible voter register for election 2012.
Nana Kwasi Akoro, who received the items on behalf of Nana Kojo Pambo II, chief of Jama, thanked the government for the support and assured the DCE that the items would get to the right beneficiaries.**
