Bole Assembly elects Presiding Member

Bole (N/R), Nov. 14, GNA – The Bole District Assembly on Monday re-elected a 51-year-old nurse, Mr James Jarga, as its Presiding Member. This followed an earlier first round of voting during which each of the three candidates who filed their nominations failed to secure the two-thirds total votes.

They are the incumbent presiding member, Mr James Jarga, Mr Timothy Kipo, a staff of a Catholic non-governmental organization and Mr Sakara Kelley, a traditional ruler.

The assembly went into consultation during which two of the candidates were advised in the interest of peace and unity to step aside to enable to win.

Mr Timothy Kipo and Mr Sakara Kelley stepped down making way for Mr Jarga.

Addressing the house after his re-election, Mr Jarga thanked members for their co-operation and assured them it would enable him complete his plans for the assembly. The District Chief Executive, Madam Elizabeth Salamatu Forgor, said the assembly had created a sub-committee on education, women and children to address the poor enrolment problem facing most schools in the district.
