Body of man trapped in RFCC recovered

Tema, Oct 18, GNA – The body of Mr Enoch Kojo Osei, welder, who got trapped in the reactor of the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCC) at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), was on Tuesday evening recovered by TOR’s Safety and Maintenance Team.

The body has since been deposited at the Tema General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Work on the RFCC was awarded on a contract to a Contractor who engaged the services of Mr Osei and was trapped to death in the reactor while working last Monday.

TOR’s Public Affairs Manager (PAM), Mrs Aba Lokko, told the Ghana New Agency on Wednesday that management has set up a four-member committee to look into the circumstances leading to the accident. She said the manhole in which the deceased entered and got trapped “has clearly been labelled not safe for entry.”

Mrs Lokko said TOR’s Safety Team had inspected the reactor and found that nothing was damaged.
