Body of drowned student recovered

Liati-Wote (V/R), June 8, GNA – The body of Lawrence Addison, 19, final-year student of the Fijai Senior High School, has been found afloat i= n the Tagbo Waterfalls on Monday.

The body has since been released to the parents of the deceased. Mr Wilson Kudze, Hohoe Municipal Police Commander confirmed the development to the Ghana News Agency. He said a taskforce sent to seek assistance from the Navy, aborted their journey when information got around that a floating body has been spotted. Mr Kudze said the body was recovered and conveyed to the Hohoe Hospital.

Togbe Kodadza V, Chief of Liati-Wote said the Asafo rescue team guarding the area informed him about the new development and called on the Police to take-over. The deceased was part of a team of students from Sekondi on a trip to tourist sites in the Hohoe Municipality, when the accident occurred. Attempts to retrieve the body last Saturday were not successful until it was spotted on Monday.
