Board of Governors of Namong SHS inaugurated

Offinso (Ash), Dec 15, GNA – A 13-member Board of Governors of the Namong Senior High School at Offinso has been inaugurated with a reminder to the nation to appreciate the child’s right to education as a shared responsibility.

Mr Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, the Ashanti Regional Education Director, said it was important school administrators, the community, parents and the other stakeholders all showed commitment towards the promotion of education. They have to work in concert to create the right conditions for effective teaching and learning.

Nana Otamakuro Adubofour, Obuobasa Nifahene, is Chairman of the Board. Mr Onyinah said inadequate school infrastructure, under-funding, apathy on the part of some parents and lack of commitment by some teachers were the main challenges facing the country’s education. He urged the board to provide leadership to bring more development to the school and work closely with the Headmaster to maintain discipline and high academic standard.

Mr Richard Edward Carl Amoah, the Headmaster, complained about the slow pace of work on a three-storey classroom block being built for the school by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). Works has virtually stalled. Nana Adubofour pledged, the Board would live up to expectation.
