Boafo inaugurates Kindergaten at Subin constituency

Kumasi, Dec 16, GNA- Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, the Ashanti Regional Minister, on Tuesday inaugurated an 81 million-cedi kindergarten for the Amakom-Abrotia Basic School in Kumasi.

The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament, for Subin, financed the project through his share of the MPs Common Fund. Mr Boafo said the government is committed to the improvement of education in the country and called on the people to support the government in its development efforts.

Mrs Gladys Kwapong, the Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Education, commended the government for improving education infrastructure in the country.

She said 33 classroom blocks had been constructed in the metropolis through the Social Investment Fund (SIF).

This helped to abolish the shift system in most basic schools in the Kumasi metropolis and commended the MPs in the metropolis for their support towards the development of education in the city. Mr R.O. Aboagye, Headmaster of the school, expressed concern about the low enrolment in the school and appealed to the residents to send their wards to school.

He gave the assurance that the staff would work hard to improve academic performance in the school and appealed for a fence wall to prevent the pupils from going out during class hours.
