BNI picks up NSS boss Alhassan for questioning

Information gathered by Starrfmonline.com indicates that the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has picked up the embattled director of the National Service Scheme, Imoro Alhassan, for questioning.

The Governing Board of the NSS Friday directed Alhassan, and his two deputies Michael Kombor – in charge of finance and administration – and Sophia Karen Akuako – in charge of Operations – to step aside.

Three others – Fiifi Asubonteng, the Director of IT, Alhassan Iddrisu, the Director, PPME and Gloria Aku Mensah, the Ag. Internal Auditor – have also been directed to step down.

The directive comes after revelations that Gh¢7.9 million was paid to over 22,000 non-existent national service persons in more than 100 districts in July 2014.

Alhassan is being questioned for his role in the rot at the NSS. He has also been accused for attempting to bribe BNI officials with Gh¢ 100,000 to conceal the rot.

It is, however, not known if Alhassan would be made to spend the night in BNI cells.
