Bloodstain leads to arrest of suspected thief

Nkawie (Ash), July 26, GNA – The Circuit court in Nkawie has granted bail to an 18 year-old unemployed for allegedly stealing a car audiotape and Mercedes car parts valued at 20 million cedis. Ishmael Addo pleaded not guilty and will reappear in court this week.

Briefing the court, presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah, Chief Inspector Ebenezer Benson, said on June 26, this year, Addo allegedly broke into a Mercedes car which was parked in front of the complainant’s house and stole the headlights, its rear window screen, side window glass and an audiotape.

He said the complainant detected the theft the following morning. The court heard that there were bloodstains around the car which the complainant traced to a house and then reported the case to the Abuakwa police.

Chief Inspector Benson said preliminary investigations by the police revealed that Addo, who is a tenant of the house sustained cuts on his hand a day before breaking into the car and must have left the bloodstain from the wound as he was removing the items. Inspector Benson said on seeing the police in his house, the accused took to his heels but was later arrested. 26 July 06
