Blankson must step aside over Ghc144 Subah rot – Consultant

A financial consultant and anti-graft campaigner says the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority must step aside for investigations to be conducted into a Ghc144 million Ghana cedi scandal involving the revenue agency and I T firm Subah InfoSolutions.

The company was allegedly paid the money from 2010 till May 2013 for no work done.

Subah was contracted to monitor call and data traffic of the various mobile phone networks to prevent them from under-declaring their tax obligations.

Commissioner General George Blankson says only Ghc75 million was paid to Subah.

However, Kudzo Akpabey told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu that Blankson must step aside to pave the way for a probe into the matter.

“If it is true that GRA did pay money for no work done, the Commissioner General and all those who made the payment must be made to step aside”, he suggested.

According to him, even if it the reports are mere allegations, the Commissioner General must still step aside to allow the Government to investigate the matter.

The Subah rot saga comes on the heels of similar corruption scandals involving the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) and the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).

Meanwhile, Andy Awuni, Executive Director of anti-graft body, Centre for Freedom and Accuracy is blaming the lack of due diligence in the award of contracts for the numerous corruption scandals popping up.
