Blame-game not solution to dev’t – Fmr Presby Moderator

A former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has appealed to Ghanaian technocrats to strive to bring their expertise to bear to facilitate the nation’s development processes.

“As a nation, we need the input of all and sundry, particularly the experts, to proffer solutions that will help address our socio-economic and technical challenges”, the Very Reverend Dr Sam Prempeh said.

He expressed worry at what he described as the over-indulgence of the citizenry in blame-game, noting that this is detrimental to sustaining the gains made over the years.

Very Rev Prempeh was addressing the Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church on the occasion of the ordination of 10 ministerial probationers into full ministry at Bantama in Kumasi.

The ministers, who received their training at the Trinity Theological Seminary, had served two years of probation in accordance with the tenets of the PCG.

The former Moderator entreated the citizenry to shun greed in all forms and be content with the little they have, saying this is the only way “we could utilise effectively the scarce resources at our disposal”.

He took a swipe at some Ministers of God for commercialising the Gospel and called for a change in attitude as the word of God was is for sale.

“It is about time that we examined our Christian values and identify where we fall short in order to make amends for the growth of Christendom,” he said.

Very Rev Prempeh encouraged the ordained ministers to propagate the Gospel with zeal and not compromise on their responsibilities for the advancement of Presbyterianism.

Reverend Samuel Owusu, one of the newly-ordained ministers, said they have resolved to work assiduously to increase the church’s membership by 10 per cent as proposed y the General Assembly.
