Ghana’s Black Stars were left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw by Chad in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in N’Djamena on Thursday.
The game started brightly for the visitors, with Jordan Ayew putting Ghana ahead in the 17th minute. A neat exchange of passes on the right flank saw Iñaki Williams link up with Mohammed Kudus, who teed up Ayew for a simple tap-in to give Ghana the perfect start.
Despite dominating possession for large spells, the Black Stars failed to convert their chances, leaving the door open for a late shock. In the 89th minute, Chad stunned the Ghanaians when Celestine Ecua pounced to level the score, sparking wild celebrations from the home fans.
The result leaves Ghana with work to do in their qualifying campaign, as attention now turns to their crucial home clash against Mali on Monday, September 8.
