Black Queens Sweep Past Egypt 3-0 to Edge Closer to Women’s AFCON Qualification

Ghana’s Black Queens took a major step toward qualifying for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after an emphatic 3-0 victory over Egypt.

The Ghanaian side produced a dominant performance, with Doris Boaduwaa, Mary Amponsah, and Grace Asantewaa all finding the back of the net in a confident display of attacking football.

Boaduwaa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute after a well-worked move that silenced the home crowd. Rising star Mary Amponsah doubled Ghana’s advantage in the 85th minute, showing composure and clinical finishing, before Grace Asantewaa sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a fine strike.

The result gives the Black Queens a commanding lead heading into the reverse fixture in Accra on Tuesday, where they will look to complete the job and officially book their ticket to the Women’s AFCON.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren praised his players’ discipline and resilience after the match, highlighting their growing confidence and team spirit.

The victory continues the Black Queens’ resurgence under Björkegren, who has turned the team into one of the most exciting and determined sides on the continent.
