Black Queens Coach Says England Clash Will Test Ghana’s True Level

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says Tuesday’s international friendly against England will offer Ghana one of the toughest examinations in world football as the team prepares for a crucial year ahead.

Speaking ahead of the match, Björkegren was frank about the scale of the challenge his side faces at St Mary’s Stadium, describing the Lionesses as one of the most formidable opponents on the global stage.

“Games like this are potentially the most difficult in the world right now,” he said. “Away against England, they will challenge us, for sure. We’re going to see how good we are, but also what we need to do better to climb the FIFA rankings and remain one of the top teams in Africa.”

The friendly comes as part of Ghana’s broader preparations for next year’s WAFCON qualifiers, with the coaching staff keen to expose the players to high-intensity football and elite tactical systems.

Despite England’s status as European champions and one of the favourites in any global competition, the Black Queens camp is upbeat. Team officials believe such high-profile encounters offer invaluable lessons, helping to sharpen Ghana’s competitiveness and future ambitions.

The match kicks off on Tuesday, with both sides expected to use the fixture as a key measure of their readiness for the challenges ahead.
