Bishop calls for unity

Bishop George Adjeman, the General Overseer of Winners Chapel Ghana, on Wednesday appealed to Ghanaians to let the Christmas serve as a platform for Divine direction for unity.

He said the Christmas festivity ought to be celebrated in modesty and in a way to draw people of divergent positions closer to each other and to God.

Bishop Adjeman, who was delivering a sermon on the theme: “Christmas; a celebration of divine direction,” called on Christians to pray for the release of a “Star” to guide the nation through 2014.

He said the “Star” in one’s life was significant and it was important for well-meaning persons to remember and appreciate “Stars” in trying to overcome the social and economic challenges facing individuals and the nation.

Some worshippers told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that it was regrettable many people had misconstrued Christmas and Boxing Day as days for drinking and eating.

Mr Martin Addo said Boxing Day had been misinterpreted to mean engaging in only merry making which has caught up well with a lot of people.

He explained that the day was set aside for people to parcel items or send a gift in a box to friends and those one had strained relations with others for reconciliation.

He said Christmas should therefore promote reconciliation and unity.

Ms Edna Kuma said recognising “stars” in one’s endeavours helped in dealing with personal challenges and to keep on track in life.

She expressed the belief that many social problems could easily be addressed through praying for the guidance and direction of stars.
