Bishop calls for responsible parenthood

Kumasi (Ash), March 21, GNA – The Kumasi Diocesan Association of the Methodist Men’s Fellowships, has observed its Silver Jubilee with a call on parents to be responsible enough to rein the growing indiscipline among the youth.

Right Reverend Professor Osei Safo-Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, said young people should be aided to become God-fearing and cherish the values of hard work, honesty and respect for law and order. He said that was necessary to give hope to the nation’s future. Rt. Rev. Prof. Safo-Kantanka said the youth needed to be mentored to remain focused and to channel their energies into productive ventures to enhance their career development. “The hand of the Lord has done this and it is marvelous in our eyes” was the theme for the anniversary celebration held at the Bantama Ebenezer Methodist Church.

Rt. Rev. Prof. Safo-Kantanka said as agents of change, Christians should be actively involved in efforts at creating wealth and reduce poverty among the people. He said that demanded supporting the implementation of the Church’s social interventions. He commended the founding fathers of the Association for their vision and hard work, which had helped to change the lives of many for the better. Mr Richard Quarshie, the National Chairman of the Association of the Men’s Fellowship, said 25 years in the life of any institution or organization was no mean an achievement. The leadership of the Association, he said, should therefore use the Silver Jubilee to reflect on their shortfalls and strategize to help promote the progress of Methodism in the Kumasi Metropolis and the nation.
