Births and Deaths Registry celebrates Day

Accra, Sept. 7, GNA – The Births and Deaths Registry in collaboration with Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and its partners, UNICEF and Plan Ghana, would observe the Seventh Births and Deaths Registration Day celebration this month. A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday and signed by Mr Stephen Amoah, Acting Registrar of Births and Deaths, said the month of September had been set aside to promote the habit of early reporting and registration of births and deaths among the citizenry.

It said this year’s celebration is under the theme: “Births and Deaths Registration, the Basis for Effective National Planning”. The statement said activities planned for the celebration include press briefing on Friday, September 10 and a durbar and mass registration exercise at Tepa in Ahafo Ano North District in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, September 16, 2010.
