Birim South teachers on sit down strike

Akyem Oda, Oct 06, GNA – Some teachers in the Birim South District are on sit down strike in solidarity with the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) whose members are on strike. A visit to some of the schools by the Ghana News Agency revealed that though the teachers were at post teaching was not going on, thus giving the pupils opportunities to loiter about.

Mr Humphrey Danso, Birim South District Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), told the GNA on telephone that the GNAT had not sanctioned any strike and that teachers who would lay down their chalks “do so at their own risk.” He said the district GNAT held a meeting on Thursday to educate members on the need to go about their normal duties. 06 Oct 06
