Birim South Assembly elect Presiding Member

Akim Oda, Sept. 24, GNA – The Birim South District Assembly on Friday re-elected Mr Robert Oscar-Prah as its Presiding Member (PM) to serve another two-year term.

Mr Oscar-Prah, 52, who was the only candidate to have filed his nomination at the close of nomination on September 16, was elected by popular acclamation by the 74 Assembly Members at a special meeting held at Akim Oda.

Mr Oscar-Prah, who is the Assembly Member for Akim Awisa, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Oscar-Prah thanked the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that he would prove equal to the challenges ahead.

He expressed his gratitude to the District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Amprofi, for the cordial relationship existing between them, which he noted, had made it possible for the Assembly to achieve its set goals and objectives.

Mr Amprofi, on his part, used the occasion to appeal to assembly members to educate their electorate on the need to tolerate each other’s political views to help ensure incident-free general elections in December.

Meanwhile, the Assembly, by popular acclamation, retained all its sub-committee chairmen for another two-year term.
