Birim North District Assembly confirms President’s nominee

New Abirim (E/R), July 06, GNA – The Birim North District Assembly has confirmed the President’s nominee, Nana Emmanuel Acquah-Frempong, 55, as the new District Chief Executive at an emergency meeting of the assembly at new Abirim.

Fifty-three of the assembly members present voted for him with one against, representing 98.1 percent. Nana Acquah-Frempong, until his appointment, was the Headmaster of Methodist School Complex at Ayirebi.

He was sworn-in by the Nkawkaw High Court Judge, Mr Justice Adu Gyamfi.

Addressing the assembly, Mr Yaw Barimah, the Eastern Regional Minister, commended the assembly members, the former District Chief Executive, Mr Victor Owusu Ahenkora, the two MP’s in the area, Ms Esther Obeng-Dapaah and David Oppong Kusi of New Abirim and Ofoanse-Ayirebi constituencies respectively for contributing to the confirmation of the DCE.

Nana Acquah-Frimpong thanked the President and the assembly members for confirming him and appealed to the assembly to co-operate with him to move the district from “its deprived position” to a developed one within the shortest possible time.

He promised to ensure a fair distribution of the district resources in all the electoral areas to enhance development in the district. Mr Ahenkora thanked the assembly members for the co-operation given him during his four-year term and urged them to give the same assistance to the new DCE to move the district forward.
