Akyem Oda, Nov. 6, GNA – Ms Ophelia Koomson, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, has urged workers to give off their best and maximise productivity at all times to help the government achieve its vision of a Better Ghana.
Ms Koomson therefore appealed to workers to guard against absenteeism, lateness to work and avoid all acts that tended to lower output.
The MCE was speaking at a send-off party at Akyem Oda in honour of Mr Okoffo-Boadi Boampong, former Municipal Coordinating Director, now on transfer to the Kwahu South District.
She indicated that the extent to which the government could give better remuneration to workers depended to a large extent on hard work of all.
Ms Koomson observed that there would not be the need for government to source for financial assistance from foreign donors for development if all Ghanaians would work hard enough to improve the national kitty. She described Mr Okoffo-Boadi as someone who was hard working and who went about his duties in a transparent and dedicated manner and urged him to continue with good work at his new place. She commended the assembly staff for the cooperation given to Mr Okoffo-Boadi and urged them to continue to work hard to move the municipality forward.
Mr David Afram, Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, who chaired the function, noted that the Coordinating Director’s two and half years stay in the municipality had transformed the area greatly. He indicated that Mr Okoffo-Boadi was prepared to work extra hard even when his health could not permit him, which was worthy of emulation.
Mr Okoffo-Boadi thanked all the staff for the co-operation given him and urged them to extend same to the in-coming Director. He commended the out-going assembly members for their hard work and appealed to them to put their rich experience at the disposal of the new ones.
He thanked the chiefs and people of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, civil society organisations and the media for their co-operation which enabled him to succeed in his endeavours.
