Mr George Gyabaah, Brong Ahafo Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, has said that the biometric voting for Election 2012 was constituency specific.
He explained that the verification machines for the polls can only identify and verify eligible voters within a precise constituency.
Mr Gyabaah was answering questions on the special voting for security personnel at a meeting between Mr William Kwasi Aboah, Minister of the Interior, and some of the personnel, in Sunyani, as part of minister’s visit to the region.
They are from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prison Service and Ghana National Fire Service.
Mr Aboah said security personnel who failed to transfer their votes to their current station, were expected to vote at where they had registered during the special voting for security personnel on Tuesday, December 4.
On the issue of minor voters, Mr Gyabaah said they should be allowed to vote because they claim they have attained the voting age under the law, after that when they were challenged they would be treated as adults and prosecuted.
Mr. Aboah asked regional commanders of the security agencies to allow their personnel expected to vote outside their areas of operation to exercise their franchise during the special voting.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Robert Ayalingo, Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, said personnel allowed to vote during the special voting, were expected to return to their stations the same day to continue their duties, and to assist in maintaining peace on December 7.
