Billboard of Larteh Campus of Methodist University College unveiled

Larteh (E/R), Jan. 23, GNA – A billboard for Larteh Campus of the Methodist University College has been unveiled bringing to an end fears that the College might not be established at Larteh. Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Osabarima Nana Asiedu Okoo Ababio III, in his capacity as Larteh Owurer expressed gratitude to the Leadership of Abegyede Clan for offering 48.6 hectares to establish the College.

He also thanked the children of Mr J.R. Asiedu, First Speaker of Post-Independent Parliament of Ghana; Mr S.S. Appiah, a Businessman, and Dr E.S. Asiedu Offei, a Physician Surgeon, for offering the buildings of their fathers to the College.

Mr Yaw Barimah, Eastern Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf urged parents and guardians to send their children and wards to school since education was the bedrock of the progress and development of a nation.

He challenged the Management and Lecturers of the College to research into ways of improving the living conditions of the people in the surrounding communities.

Mr J.K.A. Sakyi-Mante, Secretary of the Akwapim Support Committee, said the dreams of the people of Larteh were virtually shattered when some individuals attempted to obstruct the allocation of the land for the College.

Reverend Professor S.K. Adjepong, Principal of Methodist University College, said with the unveiling of the billboard all speculations about whether the Larteh Campus would be established had ended and urged all to cooperate for the College to succeed. 23 Jan. 07
