Bible Society distributes 700,000 Bibles to students

Kumasi, Oct. 16, GNA – The Bible Society of Ghana (BSG), has since 2007 distributed 700,000 bibles at a cost of GH¢7.50 each, to public junior high schools in all the 10 regions.

Reverend Richard Boso, Northern Sector Manager of the Society who made this known expressed the hope that BSG would record the million bible supply to the nation by 2011 when the project ends.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the project, which was launched in 2007, he said the initiative is being funded by members and friends of the Society.

Rev Boso said the BSG is of the view that people especially, young men and women need the Gospel to know God to be able to lead upright lives.

“It is also the conviction of the Society that it will quicken the understanding of students in the study of Religious and Moral Education in school since most students did not have access to the book for the course.”

The Sector Manager urged beneficiaries to take good care of the holy book and appealed to teachers to encourage their students to read it during their leisure hours.

He appealed to Christians to come to the aid of the Society by contributing to the cost of one bible to complete the project.
