Bibiani police mounts search for mother of abandoned baby

Bibiani (W/R), July 25, GNA – The police at Bibiani have mounted a search for the mother of an abandoned baby found wrapped in a piece of cloth at the Bibiani Estate.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Felix Toya, Bibiani District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency at Bibiani in the Western Region that on July 16, this year, one Esther Frema of Bibiani Estate brought a day-old baby girl with the umbilical cord and placenta attached to it.

He said the complainant reported that the baby was found wrapped in a piece of cloth, concealed in a polythene bag and abandoned in the bush near a house belonging to one Mr Samuel Gyasi. ASP Toya said the baby was currently on admission at the Bibiani Government Hospital, while the police investigate the case. 25 July 06
