Bibiani Court issues bench warrant for the arrest of evangelist

Bibiani (W/R), Jan 15, GNA – The Bibiani Circuit Court in the Western Region has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a 47-year-old evangelist, who failed to appear before it to answer rape charges. Joseph Dadzie is accused of sexually assaulting a nurse at Sefwi-Nsawora on March 23, 2009.

When first arraigned, he was granted GH¢1,000 bail and was asked to re-appear on November 20, last year, but has since failed. Detective Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah had earlier told the Court that the victim is a nurse at Sefwi-Nsawora, whilst Dadzie, a self-styled evangelist lives at Sefwi-Humijibre and has been going round organizing church crusades in various communities. He held a joint prayer and healing session with the Nsawora branch of the Methodist Church from March 18-22, during which, he called the nurse and made some spiritual revelations about her.

Dadzie collected from the victim GH¢13 to purchase anointing oil to ward off the evil spirits tormenting her life. The accused called the lady on her cell phone on March 23, to come for the oil and when she went, the evangelist followed her to her room. There he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her, the prosecutor said.
