Berekum: Primary school sends SOS to GETFund

The Yiadom Boakye Demonstration “C” schools in the Brekum Municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region has appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the Municipal Assembly to assist in rehabilitating the school, which almost destroyed by a recent rainstorm storm .

Mr. Gyaah Mankona, headmaster of the Yiadom Boakye Demonstration “C” basic Schools, who made the appeal through the media at Brekum, said the rainstorm destroyed several buildings as well.

He said the entire administration block is in a very bad state while the roofing of many classrooms have been ripped off. He said the sad development has disrupted academic work.

Mr. Mankona said the school, which was established in 1978 is on the compound with the Brekum Training college and that no renovation has been done on the building since.

He said scorpions, snake and other reptiles have been seeking shelter in the classsrom due to its poor nature. “Sometimes snakes come out from the ceiling when lessons are in progress,” he said.

Mankona added that several pleas to Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly for help for the past two years have yielded no results and therefore called on individuals and corporate organizations to come to their aid.
