Berekum district gets nine Red Cross chapters

Berekum (B/A), Jul 03, GNA – Nine chapters of the Ghana Red Cross Society, have been formed in the Berekum District. They are located at Berekum, Akroful, Senase, Abi, Namasua, New Mpataase, Koraso and Jinijini.

Nii Quaye, District Organiser told the Ghana News Agency that the members undertook voluntary blood donations, clean up exercises, tree planting and health educational campaigns.

“They also educate communities on the importance of environmental sanitation, personal hygiene and about HIV/AIDS”, he added. Nii Quaye expressed concern about the low turn up of people at their educational campaign programmes and appealed to Assembly Members, religious leaders, traditional rulers, unit committees and teachers to assist in organising and encouraging the people to patronize the Society’s activities.

He commended the management of the Berekum Holy Family Hospital for the close links with the Society.
