Beneficiaries of MOWAC loans asked to pay promptly.

Etuahkrom (w/r), June 2, GNA – Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs has called on beneficiaries of loans and machinery from the ministry to endeavour to pay back promptly. She said early re-payment of the loans would enable the ministry to provide further assistance for the improvement of their businesses and livelihoods.

Mrs Asmah said these at the commissioning of a 7.5 million cedis gari processing plant, and also the cutting of a sod for the construction of a 16- seater Kumasi Ventilated Improved Pit (KVIP) at Etuahkrom near Takoradi on Wednesday.

The minister said Etuahkrom women, would be assisted with a 25-million- cedi loan to enable them to purchase other tools that would facilitate their work.

“The President’s intention of establishing the MOWAC, was to create wealth for women to enable them to contribute their quota to the food and economic needs of the country.

Mrs Asmah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Takoradi said the women’s project would not succeed if men failed to assist their wives in the discharge of some of their duties.

She therefore advised the women to seek their husband’s assistance in their vocation, adding “you should be obedient and serve as a unifying force between your children and your husband”.

Mr. Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive said the assembly would supplement funds that the government would release for the commencement of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He said the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the community would improve when both projects are completed.

Mr. Nkrumah therefore called on them to regularly maintain the equipment to expand its lifespan. 2 June, 04
