Beneficiaries express satisfaction as Free SHS begins today

First-year students across the country are expected to report to their various Senior High Schools to begin processes for their enrolment as today, September 11 marks the beginning of the implementation of government’s flagship programme; Free SHS.

About 400,000 students are expected to benefit from the education policy which exempts them from paying for tuition and other fees.

Some beneficiaries of the Free SHS who were going through the enrolment process at the Accra Girls Senior High School told GhanaWeb how excited they were.

They expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government for fulfilling his campaign promise and making the policy a reality.

Parents who accompanied their wards to the school disclosed to GhanaWeb that no monies have been spent because government has paid for everything.

They said they are exceedingly grateful to the government because the burden of paying fees has been taken off their shoulders.

The Free SHS was a major campaign promise by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

President Akufo-Addo will officially launch the policy at the West African Senior High School at Adenta tomorrow, September 12, 2017.
