Begoro women screened for breast cancer

Begoro, March 8, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Civic Union and the Ghana Health Service organized a breast cancer screening exercise for 142 women at Begoro on Friday.

The District Chairman of the Civic Union, Mr. Kwame Amfo-Antiri told the Ghana News Agency that ten women were identified to have breast related diseases while one other had symptoms of breast cancer.

He said those identified had been referred to the Begoro District hospital for treatment. Mr. Amfo-Antiri expressed concern at the harm breast cancer caused to women and their families and promised that the union would continue to mount educational campaign on the need for women to screen their breast to know their health status. He asked women to visit hospitals regularly to have their breast screen if to check against the disease.
