This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced smoothly in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region with a total of 4,732 candidates participating.
Out of the total figure, 2,292 are boys and 2,447 are girls. Drawn from 71 public schools and 64 private schools.
Mrs Catherine Biney, Municipal Director of Education, Tarkwa Nsuaem, during a tour to the twelve centers with his team, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that pupils were seated at 8:00 am and the examination started at 9:00 am with invigilators in the various centers to supervise the candidates.
At the Tarkwa Senior High School center, she stated that all 415 candidates who had registered were writing the examination at the time of her visit.
Mrs Biney assured parents and other stakeholders that the necessary arrangements had been put in place by the municipal education directorate to ensure a successful examination.
She also cautioned candidates to avoid malpractices, stressing that getting caught could affect their education and future.
