BECE Exams takes off today

The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) would be written nationwide from April 18-22, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) said. A statement in Accra signed by Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Senior Public Relations Officer said a total of 287,341 candidates made up of 158,038 boys and 129,303 girls would write the exams at 1,084 centres throughout the country.

A total of 7,685 schools have registered their candidates. The council cautioned candidates and the public to be wary of persons who claim to have in their possession questions papers of any kind, adding that, it would not hesitate to deal with candidates, schools, centres, supervisors or invigilators who would infringe any of its rules or tried to disrupt the conduct of the examination in any manner. It advised candidates to desist from engaging in examination malpractices, which could lead to the cancellation of their results.
