BECE candidate assaults pregnant girl

Pramso (Ash), April 23, GNA – A seventeen-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate, Johnson Boateng, from Dedesua in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma, has abandoned the on-going BECE after assaulting a 16-year-old pregnant school drop-out. The assault on Felicia Asamoah resulted in her loosing one of her teeth. Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Jachie Pramso Senior High School on Tuesday, Mr Samuel Effah Kokuah, Headmaster of the Dedesua District Assembly (D/A) Junior High School, said about two weeks ago a quarrel ensued between Boateng and Felicia, who were school mates until the pregnancy. During the scuffle, a fight ensued between them and Boateng assaulted her. The father of the girl reported the case to the Jachie Police but they could not trace him. Mr Kokuah also said Boateng ran to Kwanwoma, where his father was residing and the father rushed to settle the case with the girl’s parents but the girl’s father insisted that the boy should be made to face the full rigorous of the law. The headmaster further said Boateng, who was afraid to be prosecuted, had since vanished from the town.
