BECE candidate applauds cancellation of leaked papers

A candidate of the Air force Junior High school, has described the cancellation of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers as the best option.

She said if the papers had not been cancelled getting admission to senior high schools would have been a big challenge for authorities considering the fact that it is done through the computerised system.

Miss Faustiana Baidoo told the Ghana News Agency during a tour to six centres by Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, Mr Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Regional Minister and the Metro Director of Education where candidates are writing some of the BECE papers cancelled by West African Examination Council due to massive leakage.

The Regional Minister said the regional security council had worked tirelessly to ensure that the students go through the second phase smoothly.

He said logistics for the examination are enough to enable students and supervisors go through the period successfully.

Mr Franklin Dzigbede, Metropolitan Director of Education said there is a counselling team put together by the Directorate to conscientise the students to remain calm and focused.

In all 7441 candidates were expected to write the BECE in the metropolis with 18 centres and 18 supervisors.
