Be wary of corrupt officials at KMA – New Mayor warned

A former government appointee of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has admonished the new Mayor of Kumasi, Osei Assibey Antwi to direct his attention at corrupt workers/civil servants at the assembly.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator has alleged that civil servants with the Assembly instigated Freco Waste Management Company to sue the Assembly over abrogated contract.

He also claims most building permits were issued to contractors without the full knowledge of the immediate past mayor which has led to flooding within the Kumasi metropolis.

According to Nuruden Abass, the Legal Department of the Assembly refused to put up a proper defence which landed the Assembly into huge debts in a legal suit between the Assembly and Freco Company.

He claims those who instigated the suit against the Assembly had their share of the monies awarded to the plaintiff by Court through the back door agreement they had with the Chief Executive Officer of the Freco

Mr. Abass, therefore, wants the new mayor to tread cautiously before his administration is rocked with series of scandals and mad unpopular

The Mayor was overwhelming endorsed by members polling 123 votes cast out 133 cast representing 99.2% last week Friday.
