Be sexually responsible this yuletide – Dr. Sowah

Dr. Ronald Sowah, the Western Regional Coordinator of the HIV/AIDS, programme has called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to be sexually responsible during the Christmas festivities to avoid contracting sexual transmitted diseases particularly HIV and AIDS.

He said STI and for that matter HIV and AIDS was not respecter of persons adding that Ghanaians must work at bridging the gap and reducing new infections through safe sex.

Dr. Sowah was speaking at a talk show organized by the Regional HIV and AIDS team to mark World AIDS Day at the Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi.

He said the HIV and AIDS is mainly transmitted through unprotected sex with an infected person and mother to child.

Currently 1.9 per cent of the Regions pregnant women are positive with the regional prevalence accounting for 2.4 per cent.
