Be professionals – Mac Manu tells EC

The 2016 campaign manager for the NPP flagbearer, Peter Mac Manu says the Electoral Commission has delayed in following its calendar hence the rush in implanting certain projects.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it has upgraded the Biometric Registration Kits (BVR kits) for the impending limited Voter registration and subsequent registration exercises. As a result, the EC will undertake a pilot registration of voters to test the upgraded kits in selected polling stations in all the ten regions on Saturday 12th March from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

But speaking to Kasapa FM’s Maame Broni, Mr. Mac Manu noted that, education for the Saturday pilot is minimal and might hinder its success.

‘The EC’s calendar had 27th January for the pilot registration with voter registration to be held in March instead of the proposed April. The Electoral should know managing pools is a public service hence the need to consider the public in its decisions. The notice for this pilot is short with no proper education to people in the selected areas. The public must be duly involved” he said.

Mac Manu urged the electoral commission to be professional in managing the electoral process.

“An Election can be termed successful when there is openness and transparency. We have limited time and as such the electoral commission should be professional enough for this professional job. They should use professionals to avoid any possible mistakes” he noted.
