BAYA Amsterdam presents equipment to Sunyani hospital

Sunyani, Feb 07, GNA – Brong Ahafo Youth Association (BAYA) in Amsterdam in the Netherlands on Tuesday presented health equipment worth 2.5 billion cedis to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital.

The items donated by the Amsterdam South East Council were office tables and chairs, wheel chairs, file shelves, surgical equipment, operation tables, cotton, needles and bandages.

Presenting the items Nana Kwame Aning, the Chairman of BAYA, said the donation was the association’s modest contribution to ensuring the good health of people living in the region.

Mr Kwame Twumasi-Awuah, Municipal Chief Executive, received the items and then handed them over to Dr Samuel Dogbey, Medical Superintendent in charge of the Municipal hospital. Mr Twumasi-Awuah expressed appreciation for the association’s concern for the health of the people, stressing that it was in line with the government’s determination to ensure that health delivery was accessible to all Ghanaians.

Dr Dogbey said the equipment had come at a right time as the hospital lacked basic equipment as well as adequate staff.
