New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer and party leader Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the newly elected national executives to ensure that no member’s talents are overlooked as preparations begin for the 2028 general election.
Dr Bawumia said the party’s efforts to return to power would depend on building an inclusive structure capable of bringing together the skills and abilities of its members.
He said the NPP’s campaign should make room for everyone in the party, regardless of whether the eventual outcome was victory or defeat.
“In victory or in defeat, no talent should be left out in the 2028 campaign,” Dr Bawumia stated.
His comments came after the election of the NPP’s new national executives in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3. The vote formed part of the party’s reorganisation ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday, October 4, Dr Bawumia pledged to support the new leadership and said he was confident it could guide the party into the next election.
The new executives are led by National Chairman John Boadu, who Dr Bawumia said should ensure the abilities available throughout the party were identified and put to use.
“Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on his part has committed to providing the necessary support to the new leadership to run an inclusive system that allows all the talents in the party to be harnessed for victory in 2028,” the statement said.
He also congratulated all the newly elected national executives, describing their election as the final stage of the NPP’s reorganisation before the 2028 presidential election.
According to Dr Bawumia, the process was conducted peacefully and transparently, while its result reflected the wishes of the party’s delegates.
He said the NPP’s rank and file expected the John Boadu-led executive to begin work on preparations for the 2028 election.
The new national executives will oversee the party’s organisational work and mobilisation activities as the NPP starts planning for the next general election.
Dr Bawumia’s call places emphasis on collective participation in the party’s campaign, with the new leadership expected to draw on the capabilities of members across the NPP as it works towards returning to power in 2028.
