Bawumia To NDC: Stop The Propaganda And Develop The Zongo Communities

The 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has chided the NDC for what he calls “cheap propaganda” in the zongo communities aimed at destroying the NPP.

He said “the propaganda will not put food on their tables and it will not take their children to school.”

Dr Bawumia observed that “during elections, members and leaders of the NDC come round the zongos to tell lies about the NPP, only to win the elections and abandon you, and that worries me a lot.”

He said the NDC have no clue as to how to manage Ghana’s economy to create jobs for the people and have therefore resorted to telling lies and engaging in vile propaganda against the NPP.

He called on the zongo communities to reject the NDC propaganda and vote for the party that comes to them with a message of development and prosperity.

Stressing the point, Dr Bawumia noted “they say we in the NPP don’t like Muslims and you in the Zongo and yet we are the party that has consistently chosen a Muslim as our Vice Presidential Candidate.

“I am a Muslim and Nana Akufo-Addo has given me the opportunity twice to be his Vice President if Insha Allah he becomes president.”

He asked “how can the NDC say the NPP doesn’t like Muslims and the zongos when they continue to select Christians as their flagbearer and running mate?” he asked.

He said when the NPP was in power, they didn’t leave Muslims and the zongos out of the development agenda and all the social interventions that were introduced by President Kufuor inured to the benefit of all including those in the zongos.

Dr Bawumia made these comments on the second day of the ‘hope tour’ with Nana Akufo-Addo at the Asiakwa Zongo, Apedwa Zongo, Nkronso Zongo and Kyebi Zongo.

They also went to the Asiakwa lorry station, Asafo, Nkronso township, Bunso, Apedwa and Kyebi lorry park to interact with residents as part of their tour of the Abuakwa South constituency.
