Bawumia partners China for machines to support one district, one factory programme

Vice president of the republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has met with the authorities of the China Exim calling on them to deepen ties with Ghana so as to expand the bank’s investment drive in government’s infrastructural programsmes.

His four day tour has seen him engage with the top managers of the China Exim bank on how best government’s upcoming flagship programs like the one-district-one-factory can be invested into. This, authorities of the Exim bank say they will consider through the provision of machinery and also the improvement of construction of Ghana’s sickening rail lines among others.

“We need significant investments to do big things, and any investor will find in us a partner committed to ensuring a win-win situation”, Dr Bawumia revealed in a call to the head of the China Exim Bank, Liu Liange.

This four day visit to China will see other ministers of state who travelled with the vice president sign some cooperation and project agreements with Chinese companies.

The visit to China by government follows the concern over how some Chinese citizens are peddling in the activity of illegal mining.

So far, a communiqué has been issued by the Chinese ambassador to Ghana expressing worry over how the relations between Ghana and China could be challenged if the issue related to its contribution to the galamsey menace is not addressed once and for all.

But Bawumia’s visit to China may stand as a disappointment to many concerned Ghanaians as issues as the galamsey menace has not been raised in any way or form so far by him to the Chinese leaders and business community .
