Baworo ICCES gets multi-purpose workshop and computer laboratory

Baworo (Ash), Aug 1, GNA – A multi-purpose workshop and a computer laboratory for Baworo Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) costing GH¢1,150 to enhance effective teaching and learning has been commissioned at Baworo in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality. It was financed by the Municipal Assembly in collaboration with One Child and Pear Tree Organisation, an NGO based in the United Kingdom. The occasion also saw the passing-out of 519 students who had successfully undergone a three-year training in carpentry, computer training and building construction.

Others also trained in dressmaking and fashion design, cookery and electrical works in all ICCES schools at Baworo, Ofoase-Kokoben, Otaakrom, Twedie and Offinso-Amoawi, all in Ashanti. Mr Apraku Mensah, National Director of ICCES, appealed to the government to extend the benefit of the Ghana Educational Trust Fund to cover all ICCES schools.

He announced that the Baworo ICCES would serve as a Resource Centre for the region to help students acquire much knowledge in ICT. Mr Yaw Ahenkorah Afrifa, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, urged entrepreneurs to employ graduands from the ICCES. Nana Anthony Boateng, Ashanti Regional Co-ordinator for ICCES, commended the Municipal Assembly and the NGO for supporting the completion of the projects.

Mr Paul Kwabena Darko, Manager of the Centre, praised the teaching staff for their hard work and commitment to duty which had made the centre one of the best in the region.
