Bawku, Jan. 21, GNA – A US Democracy and Human Rights Coordinator, Madam Barbara Kalb has commended the various women groups in the Bawku Municipality for facilitating the peaceful conduct of Election 2004. She said a peace march organised by the women last November, had an impact on the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Madam Kalb made the commendation when she addressed representatives of the women groups attending a day’s workshop on Conflict Prevention and Peace Building, in Bawku, organized by WINCOPAR, a Bolgatanga- based non-governmental organisation.

The President of WINCOPAR, Madam Veronica Munya expressed the hope that the workshop would consolidate the peace and stability prevailing in the Municipality.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Samuel N’Lary asked the women groups not to rest on their oars but must endeavour to resolve any problem that might lead to a conflict situation.
